Implied reader

I think the fact that it is based on politics, corruption and Russian revolution implies it is a book for older people.Teenagers are especially influenced by peer pressure. In exploring the skilful use of peer pressure (along with the threat of
death later in the book) used by the pigs to keep the other animals in line, the students can analyse their own lives and
discover how peer pressure controls their actions.

  • This is a tough concept to explain and I think that you have done this well. You explore who the implied reader might well be and you justify your reasoning.

Target: What about ‘authorial intent’? What are the writer’s possible motives? Refer to Orwell explicitly and explore his possible intentions.
