Quotations From Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian

“You said your mom is the goddess of balance,” I reminded him. “The minor gods deserve better, Ethan, but total destruction isn’t balance. Kronos doesn’t build. He only destroys.”

“Hope does not leave without being given permission.”

I don’t recommend shadow travel if you’re scared of:
a) The dark
b) Cold shivers up your spine
c) Strange noises
d) Going so fast you feel like your face is peeling off
“In other words, I thought it was awesome.”

“Once she was gone, I knelt next to Annabeth and felt her forehead. She was still burning up.”

“You’re cute when you’re worried,” she muttered. “Your eyebrows get all scrunched together.”

    Meshach,

You are able to select and retrieve quotations, now you must begin to explain why you have chosen these quotations.

    Target:
How are these quotations relevant to your understanding of the novel? Do they link to a theme, or the development of a character/plot point, or all three of these?
Write a topic sentence to introduce each quotation and refer to what you think the author’s motives may be wherever you can.
For instance: Riordan has made personal growth and determination a central theme in the novel. The character [insert character name here] tells us: ‘Hope does not leave without being given permission.’

Please see me if you would like to develop further ways of introducing key quotations to your reader.
